Retaining much of its old Savoyard charm, this quiet sunny village has always appealed to families thanks to its gentle slopes, excellent ski schools and wide array of child-friendly non-skiing activities. Part of the huge Portes du Soleil ski region, and offering links to the fabulous Mont Chery ski area, Les Gets really is the perfect place for a family winter break. But what’s different this season, to keep us going back for more? We’ve pulled together a round-up of the best new additions to the resort that are sure keep the whole family entertained.
For the Kids: Geocaching – A treasure hunt in the snow
Geocaching is fast becoming a world-wide phenomenon, and it’s basically one big treasure hunt! All you need is a hand-held GPS device or a smart phone and a sense of adventure! Geocaches or ‘caches’ are small waterproof boxes that have been hidden throughout the ski area in Les Gets and by downloading the official Geocaching app you can track them down. Once you’ve found one, sign the logbook to prove you were there and you might even find an array of trinkets that people before you have left to swap…but be sure to leave a little souvenir in its place for the next person to find!

For the Mums: Le Bacchus, “the place to be”!
Part of the Crychar Hotel and Spa, this new bar situated on the pistes above the village is the place to be this winter. With its cosy atmosphere and wide selection of food and drink options, this wine bar & tea room is sure to satisfy any craving. Traditional teas, old-fashioned hot chocolate and a regularly renewed wine list make up the majority of the bar’s offering; and with an assortment of cured meats and cheeses also available, this is a perfect place to stop-off for a glass of Vin Chaud whilst the children are at ski school.
