On the 12th-14th December, four of the UK Ski Famille team based in the Fleet (Hampshire) office went on a whistle-stop tour to the Alps. We managed to squeeze in visits to all of our chalets across our resorts of Les Gets, La Plagne, Les Bruyeres and Reberty 2000. My name is Jack and I work in the Ski Famille sales team. My colleague, Naomi, has already written a separate blog article, but here you can read about my personal experiences.
Day 1 – Les Menuires (Reberty and Les Bruyeres)
Reberty 2000 was our first stop to visit chalets Katie 1 and Katie 2 and Chalet Eva. I was surprised how pretty the little alpine village of Reberty was and how easily accessible the chalets were to everything. The slopes and ski school were just a minutes walk away from the chalets – a perfect location for everyone!
Once we had finished in pretty Reberty, we made the short trip to Les Bruyeres, where we would be staying the night. We were first introduced to the chalet team who couldn’t have done more – they really made us feel welcome. Dinner came and it was something I was really looking forward to as I’ve never had it before – Raclette! The melted cheese, glass of wine and roaring fire in the background was the perfect combination after a day of travelling. It was only after this that I could fully relate to our guests on why they love being around the fireplace and enjoying the food after skiing. The chalet chef and hosts took great care of us throughout our stay which really helped us to understand what makes a Ski Famille family holiday so special.
Day 2 – More from Bruyeres, and then to La Plagne!
After a hearty breakfast we visited the Les Bruyeres chalets. We started with the brand new chalets Faucon and Aigle. I had high expectations of these chalets and they definitely exceeded them. I can only describe them as “stunning”. Both chalets offered something for all families, from a hot tub on the terrace with a beautiful view overlooking the valley to watching your favourite film in the cinema room. Both chalets felt so open but still had a cosy warm feeling in every room you walk in. In terms of location, the chalets couldn’t be better placed if they tried. They’re both located just next to the slopes offering ski in ski out with a casual blue run leading to the lifts ready to start your day off.
We then travelled to La Plagne to visit Chalet Delphine and Nicole. We started with Chalet Nicole which was also where we were staying that night. We were greeted with a smile by Laura, our lively and enthusiastic Chalet Manager. Her team were quick to introduce themselves too and made us feel just as welcome as she did. Upon arrival afternoon tea was laid out, including a freshly baked lemon drizzle cake which went down a treat (excuse the pun!)
It was immediately clear that both Chalet Delphine and Nicole were both unique. They each had their own individual personalities, character and (most importantly) charm. Dinner in Chalet Nicole was chicken saltimbocca. I really enjoyed this meal as all of our La Plagne team sat down with the UK office team to enjoy our food. We felt like one big family – which is exactly you would like to feel when staying in our chalets. The service once again was fantastic and made us feel settled and at home (but with all of the luxurious amenities we wouldn’t get at home!)

Day 3 – Les Gets
On our final day we travelled from La Plagne to Les Gets. It was immediately very clear that Les Gets was a great family friendly resort. It had so much to offer families as well as fantastic skiing.
I really liked both Chalet Petit Mouflon and Chalet Grand Mouflon. The chalets had a really nice alpine and homely feel to them. Both chalets are joined together as part of one large building (but they are still separated with coded doors for security and privacy). The top floor of both chalets was a really cool rooftop terrace which contained a hot tub and sauna (both offering great views). It wasn’t just the chalets themselves that appealed to me, but their location too. Everything was just so easy with the lifts and ski hire shop being minutes away.

Final thoughts
I feel that this tour of our resorts in the French Alps was really beneficial and I’ve began to understand how the different chalets would suit different families from a first-hand perspective. This will only benefit me when speaking to potential Ski Famille guests and I’ll be able to better share my experience and knowledge to better provide them with the information our potential guests are after.
