A month ago, family travel blogger Mummy Daddy Me travelled with us to Les Bruyeres. This marked her second Ski Famille holiday having travelled with us to Les Gets last year.

Last Season’s Holiday – Les Gets

Katie, the author of Mummy Daddy Me, wrote a series of blogs on her family skiing trip with Ski Famille last season. If you’ve only recently stumbled across Ski Famille or Mummy Daddy Me, or you simply need your memory rejigged, then it might be worth reading her blogs listed below:

We’ve also written our own blog on her Les Gets trip, A First Family Ski Holiday – MummyDaddyMe Visit Les Gets.

This Season’s Holiday – Les Bruyeres

You may have witnessed the influx of social media photos and videos appearing on Mummy Daddy Me’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube pages. We’ve also been busy sharing all of her content on our own Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Katie has recently written about her experiences in Les Bruyeres, covering topics such as the local area and resort, activities and après (after) skiing activities. Read her blog here: Our Family Ski Trip in Les Bruyeres with Ski Famille

Katie also captured her family holiday experiences in a series of vlogs (which we’ve shared below). We love how both of the videos cover all areas and activities in a family skiing holiday. Her vlogs really help represent what a typical family skiing holiday is like and should resonate with any regular family skiers.

Where did Katie go?

Katie was staying in our newest chalet, Chalet Faucon. Faucon was recently ranked as the fourth best chalet in Europe by The Times. We think it’s a fantastic chalet (even if we do say so ourselves) as it is equipped with a range of equipment to keep everyone in a family entertained – how does an outdoor hot tub with fantastic views sound – or better yet – its own cinema room?

Just like all 15 of our chalets, this chalet is located in the French Alps. More specifically, the chalet is found in Les Bruyeres, a charming hamlet right next to the pistes of the famous Three Valleys skiing domain. For those of you who do not know The Three Valleys, it is renowned for being arguably the most linked skiing area in the world. This means that ski lifts can take you to more resorts to ski than any other skiing domain.

Close to Les Bruyeres is Les Menuires –  a purpose-built resort with a covered shopping precinct, a weekly market, restaurants, family-friendly bars, an indoor sports centre and an indoor swimming pool and spa complex. As you can imagine, Les Menuires makes a great spot for family-friendly après ski entertainment.

Your Questions Answered

Having kept a close eye on Katie’s social media pages, we’ve noticed a few recurring questions that you were asking. Whilst we try to ensure that we cover everything, there is no substitute for talking to one of our experts. Call our friendly team on 01252 365 495 to discuss any particular queries you may have.

“What happens if we want a day off from skiing?” – Our chalets have been designed to keep both children and adults entertained. Depending on your chalet choice, you can enjoy a range of facilities such as our games rooms (pool table and table football table), cinema rooms equipped with a Wii-U, spa facilities (hot tub, sauna, steam room) and board games to name just a few! If you enjoy the finer things in life, how about enjoying the warmth of the chalet fireplace with a book – or better yet – a glass of wine in hand?

Outside of the chalet, our resorts have plenty to keep you occupied. You may fancy skiing for a brief period, followed by spending the rest of the afternoon enjoying a meal and drink from the restaurant’s sun-kissed terraces in the mountains (yes, you can actually enjoy the sun on a skiing holiday). Other facilities in our resorts include local swimming pools and spas, tobogganing, dog sledding, skidooing, paragliding, ice castles and ice caves, night sledging, hot air ballooning, ice skating and snowshoeing to name a few.

“I’m completely lost in terms of understanding how a family skiing holidays works” – In short: You’ll stay in a chalet as opposed to a hotel. Chalets often give you your own own private area consisting of multiple rooms which we call a family suite (please view our floor plans on our chalet pages). This provides a far softer, relaxing, spacious and homely atmosphere as opposed to a ‘block’ in a hotel. There will usually be approximately 3 more like-minded families in your chalet who you’ll enjoy meals in a social setting. Our staff will take care of meals for you, clean your rooms, look after your children and take away all of the household chores you’re used to doing at home!

We can organise some skiing lessons for you and your other half or you can choose to do some independent skiing (or combine the two). While you do this, your children will either be taken to ski school or get looked after by our enthusiastic and highly qualified nannies in our dedicated chalet playrooms.

“None of us have skied before, I’m worried we will be rubbish” – That’s what skiing lessons are for! A few skiing lessons will really help you to develop your balance, confidence and technique. If you’re nervous about being “the rookie on the slopes” – you’ll be glad to know you won’t be alone! Each piste is colour-coded based on its difficulty. You’ll find plenty of like-minded beginners on the beginner slopes (green and blue). For further information, we highly recommend reading our Tips for Nervous Skiers guide.

“What happens to my child when I ski?” – Your children are looked after by our highly qualified, enthusiastic childcare team and nannies.

If your children are over 4 years old, they can join our Mountain Marmots for skiing lessons in the morning, and Monty’s Afternoon Club in the afternoon. Monty’s Afternoon Club includes plenty of snow-based activities such as a supervised hunt for our mascot Monty the Marmot, tobogganing, arts and crafts and much, much more.

Babies, toddlers or child under 4 years old can join our Mini Marmots childcare service. All Mini Marmots can get involved in a range of safe and stimulating activities in our well-equipped, dedicated chalet playrooms. Activities include:

  • Snow painting
  • Story and rhyme time
  • Sensory play
  • Gondola lift rides
  • Winter wonderland picnic
  • Play dough fun
  • Arts and crafts
  • Monty’s treasure hunt
  • Sledging
  • Snowman building
  • Messy play
  • Picnic on piste
  • Face painting fun

Our childcare service is not about “child minding”; we want to create a stimulating and fun environment that is remembered long after you have left the mountains. Our nannies and childcare team are:

  • Enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) checked
  • Referenced checked
  • Childcare team first aid trained
  • Fully qualified nannies
  • Experienced childcare helpers
